Beta Mu Chapter of Lambda Pi Alpha sorority, Incorporated

Welcome to the Beta Mu Chapter of Lambda Pi Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Beta Mu Chapter of Lambda Pi Alpha Sorority is a Nursing Sorority dedicated to sisterhood, education, and community involvement since 1934. This organization was established in 1930 by Hulda Margaret Lyttle at Meharry Medical College School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. Lambda Pi Alpha was granted a charter by the State of Tennessee in 1933. In 1935, there were seven chapters located in Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Kansas City, MO; Indianapolis, IN and New Orleans, LA.

The Beta Mu Chapter was formed in Chicago in April of 1934 at Provident Hospital. Membership is offered to professional Registered Nurses with good moral character who are in good standing within the nursing community. The membership serves the community in all phases of nursing: hospitals, public health, school nursing, the private sector and budding entrepreneurs.

Hulda Margaret Lyttle was a woman of vision, determination, dedication and perseverance to leaving a legacy of promoting growth and education. Beta Mu Chapter of Lambda Pi Alpha's mission of “Finer Womanhood" is  committed to community Involvement by:
1.  Heightening community awareness of the continuing need for appropriate health care through workshops and seminars.
2.  Assisting needy families by providing food and clothing.
3.  Supporting various charitable organizations
4.  Providing mentoring services to students.
5.  Providing scholarships to student nurses.
